Make your own pumpkin pie spice for a multitude of dishes for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Adjust it to your own taste. It's easy!
Have you ever looked at a recipe to find out that it calls for pumpkin spice which you might not carry in the pantry? I have a full pantry of individual spices and herbs, but not usually a combo spice like pumpkin spice. I like to carry the individual spices and make my own combo spices. So why keep it in my pantry? I like to make my own pumpkin pie spice, and make it to fit my own tastes, from my wide array of spices instead of introducing another shaker onto the shelf. This way I can adjust the combo spice to my preference and produce just a little so it doesn't spoil on the shelf.
Here's how to make your own pumpkin pie spice to use in homemade pumpkin pies, pumpkin cheesecakes, pumpkin breads, pumpkin bars, pumpkin cakes, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin cookies, pancakes, French toast, pumpkin whipped cream and even to make spice nuts. It's all mixed up. All you need to do is measure or sprinkle it in to meet the flavors you want. You can adjust the spice combination to meet your family's taste.
Pumpkin Pie Spice Ingredients:
3 T Cinnamon, ground
1 t Cloves, ground
1 t Nutmeg, ground
1 t Ginger
Pinch of Salt (optional)
Pinch of Pepper, black (optional)
Make your customized Pumpkin Pie Spice:
- Mix all of the spices until well combined.
- Use this mixture whenever the recipe calls for pumpkin pie spice or sprinkle it on top of a latte, cake, frosting or whipped cream for a light spicy addition.
- This pumpkin pie spice mixture can be changed according to your tastes. Add more cinnamon or lessen the amount of cloves. I normally do not like a lot of clove flavor, but I like the proportion in this recipe. I normally do not add salt or pepper. I like to control the amount of salt in a recipe, so do not add more by excluding it from my pumpkin pie spice.
Ways to use your pumpkin pie spice:
- There are so many ways to use your pumpkin pie spice - in café mochas and lattes, whipped cream, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin bars, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin bars...and, pancakes or French toast. Keep it on hand to give your foods more flavors for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Bake you own Memories!
